13 September Phuket Member Briefing: Asian Regattas – Highlights on Phuket, Towards Sustainability

On Friday 13th September 2019, AustCham Thailand, in collaboration with the Australian Alumni, The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) , British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), CanCham Thailand, German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) and Singapore-Thai Chamber of Commerce (STCC) held a Joint Phuket Sundowners at Phuket Boat Lagoon. Surrounded by a beautiful sunset view, the guests enjoyed networking with people in the Phuket business community. Prior to the Networking, we also organized a Phuket Member Briefing: “Asian Regattas – Highlights on Phuket, Towards Sustainability”. Thanks to our panelists, Simon James, Regatta Asia (PRO & Organiser of Bay Regatta & Samui Regatta), Byron Jones, Organiser of Phuket Raceweek Regatta, Scott Duncanson, Organiser of Multihull Solutions Regatta and Alan Carwadine, regular regatta participant, and moderator Harry Usher, for taking their time to share their expertise on organising and participating in regattas in Phuket and throughout Asia. 11 September – Member Briefing: Applying for Australian Work Visas

On Wednesday 11th September, 2019; 10.30-12.00, AustCham Thailand held a Member’s Briefing on “Applying for Australian Work Visas” hosted at the Australian Embassy Bangkok.

The briefing was conducted by Kate Evans, Counsellor (Home Affairs) and Andy Dwyer, Second Secretary (Home Affairs) at the Australian Embassy Bangkok, and Sachin Verma, Country Manager – Thailand & Laos at VFS Global, and the objective was to provide a detailed guide on how to apply for Australian work visas.

9 September – Meeting the Hon Simon Birmingham, Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment

On Monday 9th September 2019, AustCham Thailand welcomed the Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism & Investment, the Hon. Simon Birmingham to meet with our members at the Shangri-la Hotel. Minister Birmingham re-enforced to our members the importance of the trade relationship  between Australia and Thailand, and the entire ASEAN region. Prior to the briefing, AustCham Thailand President, Mr. Wayne Williams, and AustCham ASEAN President, Mr. Brenton Mauriello were granted a private meeting to share feedback from our members on the current economic climate and overall trade relationship between Australia and Thailand.

4 September – Member Briefing: Preview of PHIST 2019

On Wednesday 4th September 2019, AustCham Thailand held our September Sundowners at Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel . Attendees enjoyed networking, delectable fare and a wonderful atmosphere at the Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel . Prior to Sundowners, we organized an AustCham Business Briefing: “Preview of PHIST 2019!”. We would like to thank Mr. David Barrett; CEO of DBC Asia, Ms. Sumi Soorian; Development Director, Phuket Hotels Association, Ms. Pat Satkhum, CEM, Senior Manager – MICE Capabilities Department Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and O.B. Wetzell, Director of Sustainable Return, for taking their time to provide insights into the upcoming Phuket Hotels for Islands Sustaining Tourism (PHIST) 2019.
